 What is balyage ? Where did it come from ? Why are we so enamored ?

Balyage is a technique which color/lightener is applied in a painting motion. Doing your hair this way provides a cleaner and softer look creating a subtle highlight . The point of balayaged hair is that it is meant to look clean subtle and as though the sun gave you a free highlight . With balayage the goal is not to see the end or beginning .
